I just wanted to make a topic on respect cuz lately we have been having problems with this too. Sounds corny huh? i feel like Mr. Rogers or something, teaching a lesson on respecting each other..... oh well.
Anyway lots of people have been quitting lately and their main reasons are that fighting occurs often. Fighting and drama between guildies.
Everyone in the guild is different. We have different ideas and different characteristics.. different mannerisms and different senses of humor.
Something you or your friends might think is funny or hilarious might be offensive and insensitive to another person in the guild. This causes tensions when things like dirty jokes, swear words, insults to other people (even if they are jokes or sarcastic), and lately, crude or sexual flirtations/bragging about other people in the guild (namely the girls), occur.
Sexual joking can be fun and playful but if not welcome or not tastefully done, it will turn disrespectful and rude. This can be considered sexual harassment in some cases. If someone is offline, do not make jokes about them to other people in guild chat or otherwise. If they are online, make sure that they know you are joking and are enjoying the teasing instead of becoming offended by it.
This can be applied to any type of joking in gc.
If someone asks you to stop please respect them and do so.. Don't argue with each other. We are a a guild and a family and should work together (no matter how corny that sounds
)
Not everyone finds the same things funny. If you are someone who is getting annoyed or offended by jokes or teasing in gc, please remember that rarely is anyone doing it to hurt someone, it is usually to gain laughs and have fun. Try to be open-minded and if it really does bother you then politely, without sounding arrogant or bossy, ask the person to stop, probably in whisper. If they continue to be annoying and crude or just bothersome then let me know when you can or a dl know.
The point is everyone just respect each other! Respect the girls (to guys), dont make jests about them or their bodies or any other sexual innuendos, unless it is a joke enjoyed by all and not harmful to them. Keep the extremely crude jokes and insults out of gc.. there is no need for it. If you are fighting with someone take it to whisper. Keep in mind everyone reacts to things differently and it doesn't matter if you didn't mean it or were joking, if it hurts someone it is your fault and your responsibility to make it right. Mostly respect your guild, your leaders, and your friends.
